NFL Super Bowl Winless Teams
12 Teams Still Waiting for a Lombardi Trophy
In the competitive world of the National Football League (NFL), the Super Bowl represents the pinnacle of achievement. However, there are 12 teams that have yet to experience the glory of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy:
Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals, founded in 1898, have a long and storied history but have never won a Super Bowl. Despite reaching the Super Bowl in 2009, they fell short against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Atlanta Falcons
Despite joining the NFL in 1966, the Falcons have not won a Super Bowl either. They famously lost to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LI in heart-wrenching fashion.
Buffalo Bills
The Bills have made four consecutive Super Bowl appearances from 1990 to 1993, but they suffered heartbreaking defeats each time. The team has consistently been a playoff contender but has been unable to break through and win the championship.
Carolina Panthers
The Panthers, established in 1995, reached Super Bowl XXXVIII but lost to the New England Patriots. They have been to the playoffs several times but have yet to return to the Super Bowl.
Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals, founded in 1968, have also been to the Super Bowl twice, losing both times to the San Francisco 49ers. They are known for their high-scoring offense led by quarterback Joe Burrow.
Cleveland Browns
The Browns, one of the NFL's oldest teams, have not won a Super Bowl since joining the league in 1950. Despite their loyal fanbase, they have struggled to find consistent success.
Detroit Lions
The Lions, founded in 1930, have never played in a Super Bowl. They are one of the four teams that have never reached the NFL's biggest game.
Houston Texans
The Texans, established in 2002, are another team without a Super Bowl appearance. They have had some success in recent years, but they have yet to make a deep playoff run.
Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jaguars, founded in 1995, have also never played in a Super Bowl. They reached the AFC Championship Game in 1999 but lost to the Tennessee Titans.
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers, originally based in San Diego, have not won a Super Bowl despite making one Super Bowl appearance in 1995. They relocated to Los Angeles in 2017.
Tennessee Titans
The Titans, formerly known as the Houston Oilers, reached the Super Bowl in 2000 but lost to the St. Louis Rams. They have not been back to the Super Bowl since then.
Washington Commanders
The Commanders, previously known as the Washington Redskins, have three Super Bowl wins to their name, but their last championship came in 1992. They have not played in a Super Bowl since then.
