War of 1635-1659
In May 1635, France declared war on Spain. By August 1636, Spanish forces were advancing on Paris, and Cardinal Richelieu, the chief minister of France, recommended the evacuation of the city.
Peninsular War (1807-1814)
The Peninsular War was a military conflict fought in the Iberian Peninsula by Spain, Portugal, and the United Kingdom against the invading forces of Napoleon Bonaparte.
Battle of Vitoria
On June 21, 1813, a massive allied British, Portuguese, and Spanish force under British General Arthur Wellesley, the Duke of Wellington, routed the French army at the Battle of Vitoria, pushing them out of Spain.
