US to hold global AI safety summit in November

Biden to host leaders from around world

Event to focus on risks and benefits of artificial intelligence

The United States will hold a global summit on artificial intelligence (AI) safety in November to address the rapid development and growing impact of AI on society.

The summit will bring together leaders from government, industry, academia, and civil society to discuss the risks and benefits of AI, and to develop recommendations for how to ensure that AI is used safely and ethically.

"AI has the potential to revolutionize our world, but it also poses significant risks," said President Biden. "This summit will bring together the world's leading experts to discuss these risks and to develop recommendations for how to ensure that AI is used for good."

The summit will be held in Washington, D.C., from November 14-16.

The summit will focus on four key areas:

  • The risks of AI, including the potential for AI to be used for malicious purposes, such as cyberattacks or autonomous weapons.
  • The benefits of AI, including the potential for AI to solve some of the world's most pressing challenges, such as climate change and poverty.
  • The ethical implications of AI, including the potential for AI to impact privacy, autonomy, and human dignity.
  • The governance of AI, including the need for international cooperation to ensure that AI is used safely and ethically.

The summit will be open to the public and will be streamed live on the White House website.

The summit is a major step forward in the global effort to ensure that AI is used safely and ethically.
